Why do dark chocolate cake recipes ask to add coffee? willcake taste like coffee or mocha? can i use nescaffe?

is it liquid that i should use? also, we dont get good dark chocolate powder here, so i melt dark cooking chocolate to make dark cake. can i add the same to the whipping cream to ice the cake? will it melt within a few hours in hot waether?Why do dark chocolate cake recipes ask to add coffee? willcake taste like coffee or mocha? can i use nescaffe?
The recipes probably ask for Coffee because the chocolate isn't very sweet so its to add flavor.


And yes the cake does get a slight Coffee taste but its very slight and rather good.


Yes you can use Nescafe.


You probably should not add chocolate to your whipping cream because it will not Whip very well, but you can make an icing out of confectioners sugar (here is a link to a whole bunch - http://www.martinsburg.com/wv.recipes/frost.html)


If you are talking about the cake - no it will not melt.


If you are talking about the icing - it might break down or melt if it was really hot and was exposed to the heat for a long time, but if you protect from the heat enough it shouldn't.
