I've never tried this recipe, but it uses melted chocolate candy bars instead of cocoa:

7 ounces chocolate bar, broken into pieces

1/2 cup butter

1 cup boiling water

2 cups flour

1 1/2 cup sugar

1/2 cup cocoa

2 teaspoons baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

2 eggs

1/2 cup dairy sour cream

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

***Vanilla Glaze***

1/4 cup of butter

2 cups powdered sugar

3 tablespoons hot water

1 teaspoon vanilla

For Cake: Heat oven to 350F. Grease and flour 12 cup fluted tube pan. In a small bowl stir together chocolate pieces, butter and water until chocolate is melted.

In large mixing bowl, stir together dry ingredients; gradually add chocolate mixture, beating until thoroughly blended. Add the rest of the ingredients and blend well. Beat on medium speed for 1 minute. Pour batter into prepared pan.

Bake for 50-55 minutes or until toothpick comes out of center clean. Cool 10 minutes and remove from pan. Cool completely. Drizzle Vanilla Glaze over top of the cake.

For Glaze: Melt butter. Gradually stir inpowdered sugar, hot water and 1 tsp. vanilla;beat with a wire whisk until smooth and slightly thick.Does anyone know any chocolate cake recipes, without cocoa and melted chocolate instead?
Chocolate fudge cake

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup butter

2 1/2 cups packed brown sugar

3 eggs

1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

3 (1 ounce) squares unsweetened chocolate, melted

1 cup sour cream

1 cup boiling water

DIRECTIONS

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Sift together the flour, baking soda and salt. Set aside.

In a large bowl, beat 1/2 cup butter or margarine and 2 1/2 cups brown sugar until well mixed. Add eggs one at a time. Beat in the vanilla and melted chocolate squares. Add 1/2 the sour cream and then 1/2 the dry ingredients to the butter mixture until well blended.

Add the remaining sour cream and dry ingredients to the batter. Stir in boiling water.

Bake in a greased 9 X 13 inch pan for 35 minutes.

Let cool 10 minutes before icing.
Melt-in-your-mouth Chocolate Cake

- 200g (2 sticks minus 1 Tbsp) butter

- 200g (7 oz) dark chocolate

- 200g (1 C) sugar

- 4 eggs

- a rounded tablespoon of flour

Note: like all dark chocolate cakes, this cake is best made a day ahead (or at least in the morning if you serve it for dinner).

Pre-heat your oven to 180掳C (350掳F). Line an 8-inch round cake pan with parchment paper (no need to if you're using a non-stick pan).

Melt together the butter with the chocolate (in a double-boiler or in the microwave slowly and for just a few seconds at a time, blending with a spoon between each pass). Transfer into a medium mixing-bowl. Add in the sugar, stir with a wooden spoon and let cool a little. Add in the eggs one by one, mixing well after each addition. Finally, add in the flour and mix well.

Pour the dough into the pan, and put into the oven to bake for 30 minutes. Turn the oven off but leave the cake inside for another ten minutes, then put the pan on a cooling rack on the counter to cool completely. Cover with plastic wrap, refrigerate, and take it out about an hour before serving.
